Sperrmüllabfuhr: Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR)
BSR collects bulky household waste from inside your home, from any floor, once booked and paid for. It is not free, and leaving the material on the street instead is illegal dumping rather than a collection.
Right for you if
- It is heavy, it is upstairs, and you can wait a couple of weeks.
- You cannot move it yourself. They come and collect.
Look elsewhere if
- You need it free.
- It is one small thing you could drop off yourself.
- It is business waste.
- You need it gone today.
- It is more than a household quantity.
- It is construction or demolition waste.
- It is paint, solvent, gas bottles or anything else hazardous.

Why use it
It is the only route in Berlin that gets a wardrobe out of a fourth-floor flat without you carrying it. The fee depends almost entirely on patience: fifty euros for up to five cubic metres if you can wait past the sixteenth working day, a hundred for the same volume sooner, and the express tier buys less volume rather than more. Electricals and textiles ride along free inside the booking, up to eight large appliances of which at most three white goods. Two obligations catch people: furniture must be dismantled, and you have to provide twelve metres of truck parking within a hundred metres of the door, including the no-parking signs if that needs them.

How it works
| How you use it | They come and collect it. |
|---|---|
| Cost | From 50 euros for up to 5 cubic metres on the Spargebühr, which starts on the sixteenth working day. 100 euros for the same volume within six to fifteen working days. The express tier is 96 euros for two cubic metres. Dismantling can be booked as an extra at 15 euros per fifteen minutes per person. A failed visit is charged at a 50 euro minimum, and liability starts the moment the truck arrives. Paid after the job, cashless only. |

Where your things go
A named destination is worth more than a stated intention, and both are worth more than silence. This is the row to read before you book: if your item's row is empty, ask them on the phone and tell us what they say.
Not documented yet. This operator has not published what happens to each kind of item, and we have not been able to establish it from anywhere else. That is the gap, stated rather than hidden. If you ask them, tell us what they say.
Does it actually work
The part no company website tells you. Some of this comes from our checks, some from readers who used the service, and where nobody has told us yet, it says so.

Used them recently?
How long you waited, what they refused, whether anyone picked up the phone. Those are the three facts no website publishes and the ones the next reader needs.
